WOW - Hashing
A newly added stuff to my hobbies - HASHING. I have been hashing regularly for the past 3 months and its a great experience.
For those who are hearing this term for the first time - Hash is a community of people, namely Hashers, who have passion for running. They meet every Sunday and they run for beer. (Ofcourse I am interested in the former than the latter.)
We meet every week at various places (mostly at ECR road). For every run, trail (track) would be laid by the hares (who are the leads). We would have to track it and finish the run. For runners it would be about 8-10 kms and for walkers about 6-8 kms. At the end of the run we have circle where people would be made to sit on ice and literally ragged.
Oops I almost missed it. I started this posting to write about yesterday's hashing. It was a novel experience. This time the hash was at Kelambakkam - Vandalur Road. When we started from home it started raining. Knowing Chennai all my life I was so sure that the rain would stop before we reach the place. My guess was right and by the time we reached it stopped. However because of the rain all the trails were washed out. But still we decided to continue the run assuming the hares would guide us. We managed to track the first two trails and then chaos started. All the trails were washed out and the hares could not remember anything.
Believing some one would have good sense of direction we continued our run. After some time we were lost. Then the fun began. It started drizzling, then started raining and finally poured. We could hardly hear what others were saying and could see nothing in front of us. We ran in serpentine - between thorny bushes - on pools of water - dirty grounds (fell couple of times) - around the lake. Finally we managed to find our way back to the cars.
By then we were totally drenched. I had mud all over my body. But still it was such a great experience. It is one of the best hash I have ever done.
