Dakshin Chitra

Last week I took one of our Australian client to Dakshin chitra and it is the first time I also visited this place. It was mild blowing.

This is a must visit place for everyone especially all Indians. In this fast world where we use machines for everthing n play games on computers no time to even think about our past, it is a good effort for these people to build such a wounderful place.



It talks about how the houses, untensiles, work and everything else was in the past. You can have a look at Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andra Pradesh houses (even in TN how the house of a weaver looks, how different is a bhramin house etc.) Also they allow you to make pots and grind rice (at a cost of Rs. 10/head). They also put beautiful mahendi work on hands. You can also see kili josiam, kairegai josium, pupet show, n those olden days bio scope movie. You can find lot of shops inside where you can buy many things like bangle, ear ring, wall hanging, mat, toys like bambaram etc.

Location: ECR Road, Chennai (About 20-25 kms from the city)
Landmark: Next to MGM (10km from the toll free)
Holiday: Tuesday

Even food is available inside. Also many other hotels in the near by visinity (in about 5kms distance). It is advisable to carry water as it would take about 2-3hrs inside to have a look at everything.
